This Christmas Tim Hortons came out with their own brand of water (upper left). The price was $1.80 for a ½ litre plastic bottle. Now Loblaws has come out with their own bottled water (upper right). The price is 8 cents for a 1/2 litre of bottled water. Everybody is jumping on the plastic water bottle gravy train.
Here is a question. If Loblaws can make a profit selling bottled water at 8 cents a bottle, how much is Tim Hortons making, selling it at $1.80 a bottle?
And where are they getting their water from? We know that Coca Cola (Dasani) and Pepsi Cola (Aquafina) get a lot of their water right out of the tap. The average price of municipal tap water is ¼ cent per whole litre.
Everybody seems to be jumping aboard the plastic water bottle gravy train. It is a fast-moving train. And we know that fast moving trains are difficult to stop, but they eventually need to be stopped.
Come and join OWSAG in our efforts to stop this. Check here for our next meeting and how to join our bottled water campaign!
